JOHN M. CORCORAN AND COMPANY UNVEILS ECOFRIENDLY MURAL AT PARKSIDE COMMONSOne of Many Environmentally Sound Elements Showcased in The Largest Green Rental Community North of BostonChelsea, MA – April 18, 2008 – John M. Corcoran and Company, one of the Boston area’s oldest and largest apartment developers and managers, has opened one section of its eco-friendly apartment community located on Stockton Street in Chelsea, Parkside Commons. The first move-ins took place on April 1. To enhance the green appeal of the building, Corcoran enlisted artist Michael Noel to design and produce a completely green mural, displayed in the front entrance of the building. Noel, who has been painting for over ten years, uses eco-friendly products in all of his projects. The mural is made from 100% eco-friendly materials. The main part of the wall is made of bamboo flooring boards, which are considered sustainable since a new harvestable bamboo tree grows in only 9 months. In addition to the bamboo, Noel created square tiles from cork, and combinations of cork and flooring tiles, made out of eco-friendly resin and seashells. Lastly, there are square tile mosaics created from 100% recycled glass. All of the materials in the wall are attached using a 0 Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) adhesive. All of the products were purchased from the owners of Greensource Supply and Design, in Braintree, MA, who also assisted Noel in the creation of the mural. About John M.
